Babcock is looking for an Accounts Assistant to join the Finance team based in Devonport, Auckland on a 6-12 month fixed-term contract. About the role Join our Finance & Corporate team in Auckland as an Accounts Assistant, where you'll play a crucial role in managing high-volume invoices, ensuring accuracy, and contributing to the continuous improvement of our accounts payable processes. Key Responsibilities Management of accounts payable invoices: Ensure timely and accurate entry and review of high-volume invoices, proactive resolution of invoice queries, and management of weekly and ad hoc supplier payments. Due diligence and data maintenance: Perform appropriate due diligence checks to maintain accurate supplier master data, ensuring the continuous improvement of accounts payable processes. Record-keeping and reporting: Maintain records of processed documents for easy access and produce various reports according to operating procedures, supporting the Finance Team with month-end close and other ad hoc duties.
Collaboration with Vendors: Establish and maintain positive relationships with vendors, addressing inquiries promptly, and ensuring a smooth and efficient accounts payable process. Compliance and Auditing: Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant financial regulations, conduct periodic audits of accounts payable transactions, and assist in preparing documentation for internal and external audits. About you The ideal candidate holds relevant experience in accounting or finance, demonstrating strong communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
With proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems, the perfect applicant brings experience in high-volume Accounts Payable processing, ideally in a large company with multiple legal entities. Desirable skills include familiarity with IFS, intermediate Excel skills, and a proactive approach to developing and implementing procedural and system improvements. Skills & Competencies Good communication skills: Both written and verbal communication.
Organizational skills: Well-developed organization skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize work. Autonomous and team-oriented: Display a high level of maturity with the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team. Computer literacy: Proficient in MS Office software (Excel, Outlook, Teams) and ERP systems.
Desirable skills: Experience with high-volume Accounts Payable processing, familiarity with IFS, intermediate Excel skills, and the ability to develop and implement procedural and system improvements.
