Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Te Whatu Ora, works towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention.
We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored. Antenatal and Childhood Screening is made up of three programmes, spanning from the first trimester of pregnancy through to six months of age. The purpose of these programmes is to enable early diagnosis and interventions to improve long-term outcomes for developing children and ensure parents and whnau can make informed choices.
We have a permanent, full-time opportunity available to join our Antenatal and Childhood Screening team as an Advisor, Antenatal & Childhood Screening Programmes. The primary purpose of the role is to provide advice to support, maintain and improve the delivery of a high-quality work programme across the three Antenatal and Childhood (A&C) Screening Programmes. These programmes include the Quality Improvement programme for antenatal screening for downs syndrome and other conditions, the Newborn Metabolic Screening Programme and the Universal Newborn Hearing Screening and Early Intervention Programme.

You are someone looking to contribute to the implementation of projects and assist in the development of continuous improvement processes. Ng pkenga me ng wheako | Skills and experience Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent experience Previous experience in applying critical thinking, using sound judgment to develop options and knowledge of the machinery of government is preferable An understanding of kawa and tikanga and working in partnership with iwi & Mori communities Comfortable working in complex environments and with a range of diverse stakeholders, both internal and external Able to manage relationships at all levels and across organisations fostering good stakeholder relationships through consultation and partnership You have sound judgement, discretion and the proven ability to work under pressure Ka kaw.
