Full & Part Time Permanent Roles available Relocation allowance for those living outside of Auckland (conditions apply) Collaborative team We are seeking Midwives for our geographically Community Teams as well as those who have a special interest in working with pregnant and postnatal women who are in Auckland Womens Regional Correctional Facility and who would also like to support our work with the National Refugee Resettlement programme which has its base in our area. Both are areas of complex and interesting midwifery care. The Community Midwifery Service embraces a midwife-led/woman focused model of care offering continuity of antenatal care and postnatal care as available.
Many of the women have complex health and social needs, so a keen interest in learning the skills and knowledge to undertake joint working with a number of diverse agencies to get the best outcomes for women and babies will be a central part of this role. The hours of work are mostly between Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4.30 pm with some negotiated flexibility in how you arrange your working hours.
You will be required to work one day during a weekend on a rostered basis approximately once in every 4 weeks and to be on-call for one weekend daytime every 4 weeks in case your community midwifery colleagues working on a weekend day need help. We are looking to recruit midwives who have already been working in the community for the organisation or as a self-employed midwife for 2 or more years. Community Midwives are supported by our Specialist Diabetes and Maternal Fetal Medicine Team colleagues as well as by a Social Work and Community Health Worker Team.
We also have a breastfeeding and infant nutrition service. As the focus of community midwifery work at this time is mostly antenatal with some postnatal care, you will have the opportunity, in agreement with the manager, to be supported in providing occasional intra-partum care for women in order to meet the requirement of the midwifery scope of practice.
