We currently have 0.5 available as we increase our capacity to care for our patients in the Obstetrician and Gynaecology services for the Southern region of New Zealand.

We have a unique opportunity for a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist to join us on a part time basis, 20 hours per week basis(plus on call). This role is primarily based in Invercargill with some travel across the Southern District. There is also the expectation of involvement with routine obstetrics, routine gynaecology and colposcopy clinics including some outreach clinics.

Southland The NZ we all dream off M mtou | About us Te Whatu Ora - Southern covers the largest geographical catchment and we deliver to a population of approximately 329,000 people over the Otago and Southland regions, through two main centres, Dunedin and Invercargill. We proudly provide top quality healthcare to our population. There are approximately 1400 births per year at Southland Hospital, Invercargill and a further 200 in the surrounding rural areas.

Our department consists of a 14 room maternity unit with 4 birthing rooms, a level two 5 cot neonatal unit and a dedicated Womens Health Unit. The service is supported by a team of experienced midwives, obstetrics, gynaecology and colposcopy nurses. Our department is affiliated to the Dunedin School of Medicine University of Otago and has a strong focus on educational development with daily obstetric handover and weekly teaching sessions and we have recently achieved a four year accreditation for O&G training by RANZCOG.

Mu ake | About you This vacancy is best suited to someone who have completed or be about to complete their specialist training and be eligible for vocational registration with Medical Council of New Zealand. As a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist for us, you will have a personal commitment to providing an effective and efficient inpatient and outpatient service and an unequivocal dedication to working as part of a tight knit team. This position offers you a broad experience in all aspects of Obstetric & Gynaecology Medicine and with that spearhead optimum health and wellbeing to our Southland community.

You will have a demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development and to providing training to students at all levels. When you join the Obstetrics and Gynaecology team, you will be collaborating with a group of talented consultants who share your purpose and unwavering determination to advance health outcomes for all women.
