WORK, LIVE & PLAY IN AORAKI/MOUNT COOK NATIONAL PARK We're looking for motivated Driver Guides who are passionate about providing once-in-a-lifetime experiences for our visitors, who are proactive in learning about the native flora and fauna found in the area, and who are excited to have Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park as their playground Our Driver Guides take visitors on fun and informative excursions in and around the Hooker and Tasman Valleys, primarily in buses and 4-wheel drive adventure vehicles so therefore its important for our Driver Guides to have prior guiding and professional off-road driving experience. Our guests choose to stay with us at the Hermitage because of the unique location, amazing views, and the excellent service provided throughout their stay. Our team chooses to work with us because of the unique lifestyle in a remote location, amazing views on your doorstep, and being part of an excellent team and remote community.
What your day will look like: Our Driver Guides are responsible for transporting guests between the hotel and our activity sites. You are sometimes their first experience and the last one to say goodbye at the end of their trip so it's vital that you can build rapport quickly. Key responsibilities include: Work with other activities team members to create an exceptional product for all visitors to the area.
Demonstrate knowledge of the flora, fauna and natural history of the Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park. Daily check-in of guests departing on our tours, including the 'screening' of guests for appropriate warm clothing/footwear/health issues etc, ensuring each trip departs on time. Ensuring the safe transportation of guests between the hotel and the activity site.
Ensuring all vehicles are maintained in a clean and tidy manner for the enjoyment of all guests. Conducting guided and structured off-road (4WD) tours through the surrounding valleys and points of interest. Completing all required checks and procedures including pre-departure and start-up checks, and additional checks required in bad weather or adverse conditions.
Always deliver a safe and professional service. Ensure absolute compliance with ALL Land Transport New Zealand (LTNZ) rules and regulations, i.e.
correct logbook entries, rest periods and any other legal requirements as a professional driver. Demonstrate an understanding of both Health & Safety (including accident reporting procedures) and emergency procedures. To be successful, you will need: A full, clean NZ drivers license and proven solid driving experience.
A Class 2/4 and P endorsement is essential . The ability to manage a group and strong public speaking and communication skills. A love for the outdoors, an outgoing personality, and a good level of fitness.
