Kia mahi ngtahi m Pneke m tna pp | Working together for Wellington's future Our Public Health team is seeking two positive and diligent individuals to join them as an Environmental Tech Officer. You will be joining a tight knit and supportive team, who will support you through on the job training and mentoring to ensure your success in this role. This team is a regulatory unit of the Wellington City Council.
In Public Health we process applications for food and alcohol premises, register dogs, and carry out inspections to ensure public health and safety. We also provide advice to customers on a wide range of regulatory matters and monitor compliance with legislation and bylaws. We pride ourselves on giving quality and timely advice to help our customers navigate their way through the regulatory processes.
The purpose of the Environmental Tech Officer is to provide efficient and competent administrative and operational services to customers, the Public Health Team, and the Council's District Licensing Committees. You will be responsible for the delivery of the Public Health education, monitoring, reporting, and compliance programme for activities licensed in accordance with the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 - including undertaking the duties of a liquor licensing inspector. This role is for you if you have experience working within a regulatory or public health space and are looking for the next challenge in your career.
You will work alongside 4 other Environmental Tech Officers and with the support of the leader who is passionate about supporting her team to grow and bring them along on the journey. In this role, you will work with a diverse range of stakeholders so you must have strong communication skills and be a keen listener. There will be times when you will have to engage in challenging conversations where you will be required to use your ability educate and influence to maintain rapport and engagement.
Previous experience working in a regulatory function is desirable. You will be responsible for managing your own work plan, so you will need to be highly organised and enjoy working autonomously. The nature of our work requires our Officers to occasionally work outside of standard working hours and or weekends to undertake inspections during which you receive an additional allowance.
There are flexible working opportunities available, such as working from home. We are looking to appoint between $69,304 - $93,763 per annum, for this role, depending on relevant skills and experience. We're Working for Wellington.
