Garden to Table Trust is a growing charity that works with schools and kura to empower thousands of tamariki across Aotearoa New Zealand to whanake (grow), hauhake (harvest), whakarite (prepare), and whngai (share) seasonal, affordable and sustainable kai. The programme enables schools and kura throughout the country to deliver, embed and sustain impactful food education. Empowering tamariki as changemakers, children take the lead, learn by doing it for themselves, develop essential life skills and build resilience.
Garden to Tables real-world learning is curriculum-linked and helps teachers integrate this learning across subjects like maths, science, and literacy. Principals report the programme creates better health, learning, and environmental outcomes for students. These positive impacts radiate far beyond the school gates - to whnau, the wider community, and the planet - ultimately enabling a more sustainable, equitable and climate-friendly social and economic future.
Garden to Table's dream is for every child in Aotearoa New Zealand to have the opportunity and resources to grow and share their own fresh kai as part of daily life. Learn more about our incredible success stories and see more about our vision and kaupapa at www.gardentotable.
