We know that positions can be confusing, leaving students wondering what their experience would be like if the joined and especially as an engineer, theres a huge number of possibilities to choose from. To be more open and transparent, and help you understand what a role with GHD might look like weve developed a series of Virtual Internships to help you start that journey.

Whats in it for you? GHD, in partnership with The Forage, a global provider of job simulations, have developed a self paced Virtual Internship where youll start to explore what a career in our Engineering teams looks like. Youll hear from one of the Leaders in our Rail team wholl outline some of the topics we cover, as well as talking you through a bit more of what we do in GHD. The Virtual Internship should only take you 4-5 hours to complete, and it can be done over a number of sittings to be as flexible as is possible.

Were not asking you to undertake complex calculations, but rather understand some of the challenges faced in Engineering design on a day to day basis. Whilst this program was designed with a Civil and Rail Infrastructure focus, this experience will give any engineer an opportunity to peel back the curtain, and help you decide whether a career in Engineering Consulting is something you want to consider. What will you take away? Each of our Virtual Internships has been developed to ensure you can practice and take away some tangible skills which will help aid you in your career.

Some of those skills include: Planning & Estimating Risk Analysis Written Communication Decision making & presentations What happens after you complete the Virtual Internship ? Once youve completed the process with The Forage, youll receive a Digital Certificate as evidence of your completion, you can also post about your experience on LinkedIn and definitely include it in your resume. If you decide to then apply for one of our Graduate or Summer internship opportunities, we will ask you a question as to whether youve done one of our Virtual Internships previously, just another way your experience may help you start your career with us here at GHD.
