He angittanga: The opportunity Auckland Council currently has a full time Governance Advisor position, reporting to the Team Leader of Governance Advisors. You will be part of the Democracy and Engagement Department. The Governance Advisor team underpins effective democratic decision-making of Auckland Council by being specialists in democratic processes, legislative requirements and take a strategic overview of priorities and key objectives within individual portfolios.
The team also works closely with the advisory panels and co-governance entities. This role will have a primary focus on the co-governance portfolio. You could expect to work on: Producing meeting documentation for stakeholders and the public to ensure information is available within required timeframes Advising elected and appointed members and staff on meeting processes, key priorities, and legislative requirements Specialist point of contact for stakeholders across the council group and the public Forming collaborative working relationships with all stakeholders and in particular co-governance entities He krero mu: About you This role will see you working alongside elected & appointed representatives, senior management and representatives from Tamaki Makauraus diverse communities therefore a high level of confidence will be vital to your success.
We are looking for someone who has well-developed communication and interpersonal skills. Governance Advisors work within a dedicated team that are results and delivery focused. This is a busy role which you will be juggling conflicting priorities all while remaining professional and diplomatic.
You will be quick thinking and proactive in problem solving. This role does require some flexibility as there may be some evening work. We are specifically looking for: Good understanding of local government legislation, council practices and constraints A minimum of one years experience in the political field in a local government meeting or democratic processes environment, e.
