Job Description The opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi We have a fantastic opportunity for a new Grounds & Precinct Manager to join Property Services and lead our Grounds Team. The Universitys estates and reserves encompass a diverse range landscapes, plants, trees and fauna including an historic conservation area comprising 41,500 square metres within its City Campus in which is a special botanical collection dating back over 175 years. The catalogue of plants across all campuses is vast, numbering over 7,000.
The Grounds & Precinct Manager will lead, manage, support, train, and embed high-quality practices within the University Grounds Team to provide a unified, cohesive and effective service. You will oversee and provide guidance on the Botanical Collection and biodiversity attributes of the Estate, and lead input into grounds project briefs, design and large programmes of work whilst ensuring they align with biodiversity and sustainable horticultural principles which include but are not limited to: habitats and wildlife sustainable horticultural practices environmental weed management improving natural plant and soil health contribute to water and stormwater management management of pesticides and chemical fertilizers through best practice minimize maintenance through enhanced outcomes A large part of this role will be working with our consultants and contractors to ensure a high level of service and delivery is upheld. Health and Safety plays a big part with worksafe procedures and reporting on the use of dangerous and hazardous chemicals being of high importance.
