The Role - Te Tranga Join our highly collaborative and supportive in-house enforcement team, where you'll get to contribute to the FMA's response to potential legal breaches of financial markets legislation and advise the FMA on appropriate enforcement outcomes where misconduct has been found. It's a fast-paced and rewarding role offering the chance to work at the forefront of Aotearoa New Zealand's financial markets. There is real variety in the legal work we do, involving advising on investigations into and other responses to potential misconduct, undertaking and managing litigation in the courts (including initiating civil and criminal proceedings, and defending FMA regulatory responses challenged on appeal), instructing and liaising with external legal advisers and experts, engaging with other teams across the organisation, and contributing to policy development, guidance, law reform and key FMA projects.
You'll be empowered to contribute your ideas and knowledge while developing your capabilities by working alongside experienced legal professionals. About you - pkenga You will have at least 2 years' post admission experience in litigation or financial services law and a working knowledge of civil procedure (essential). A general understanding of criminal procedure would also be an advantage.
You are someone who demonstrates a sound and pragmatic approach to interpreting and applying legislation, with strong legal research and analytical skills and an ability to think critically about legal and evidential issues. Most importantly, you are keen to learn and develop in a highly specialised and evolving area of litigation.
