Kairahi Whnau Kaupapa Mori Mental Health Support Worker, Ohakune Ng Waihua o Paerangi Trust Closing date: Feb 15, 2024 Full Time Manawat-Whanganui Full-time, permanent, Ohakune Based Ng Waihua o Paerangi Trust (formerly known as Ngti Rangi Trust) is currently seeking applicants for the role of Kairahi Whnau Kaupapa Mori Mental Health Support Worker. The primary purpose of the role is to provide support for the clinical and cultural mental health and addiction needs of tangata whaiora and their whnau, within a Whnau Ora approach. A key area of focus for this role is to provide an appropriate level of care to tangata whaiora and their whnau.
The Kairahi Whnau will liaise and consult with keyworkers, caregivers and other agencies/ individuals as required. There is also a focus on health promotion and primary care strategies of early intervention, thereby decreasing the chance of serious mental illness developing. The successful candidate will have: Significant, proven success in a similar clinical or kaimahi (mental health support) role.
Exceptional communications skills and the ability to present information, both orally and in written form A National Level 4 qualification (or equivalent) in mental health or be committed to acquiring the qualification. Demonstrated ability, willingness and commitment to be multi-skilled and up-skilled. Demonstrated success in self-managing work outputs.
Confidence in a kaupapa Mori setting with an understanding of tikanga, kawa and te reo Mori. Demonstrated ability and experience in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Valid drivers licence (Full, Class 1 at minimum).
Demonstrated kaupapa based report writing skills. We are looking for someone who has: Proficient with Microsoft office suites. Ability to work alongside and implement our Ngti Rangi way, Capacity to provide sound advice to support and make informed decisions and minimise risk.
This is a permanent, full-time Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.00pm (40 hours per week) position where applicants must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand.
A current, full NZ Drivers Licence is a requirement of the position.
