Listed 4 hours Ago UCOL Education Full Time Application Closes 25 Feb 2024 Manawatu - Whanganui Senior Academic Teachers We have an exciting opportunity on our Whanganui campus for a lecturer to teach our initial teacher education programme Te Tohu Paetaki Akoranga Bachelor of Teacher (Early Childhood Education) Level 7. This role provides an excellent opportunity to contribute to the development of the future Early Childhood Education (ECE) workforce, by sharing your specialist knowledge of the sector and cultural understanding that will assist students to become confident, professional early childhood teachers. UCOL Te Pkenga is a collaborative working environment that is committed to learner success, both within their studies to become an ECE teacher and within industry.

A key focus is on Mori and Pacific learner success, and preparing all our students to be effective practitioners within any areas of the ECE sector they will work in. This is a new programme for UCOL Whanganui and this position provides a unique opportunity for the successful applicant to influence and contribute to the implementation and ongoing development of this new field-based degree in collaboration with our students and industry stakeholders. The following are preferred qualities of prospective applicants: A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and growing cultural practice A passion for tertiary education and playing a role in developing the future ECE workforce Experience teaching in k hanga reo, Aoga Amata, immersion or bilingual settings would be an advantage.

Experience working within the Early Childhood Education sector, an understanding of their workforce requirements, a vision of how collaboration with a tertiary provider can help meet these needs. Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills A current full drivers license It is preferred that the applicants have a Masters qualification in Early Childhood Education (or be working towards one), or relevant discipline, be a NZ Registered Teacher, and ideally have experience in research related to the Early Childhood Sector. Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa and will be required to undergo pre-employment checks; including completing a New Zealand Police Vetting as part of the Children's Act 2014 and may also include pre-employment drug and alcohol testing in safety sensitive roles.

The successful applicant must undergo a criminal convictions check by the Ministry of Justice..
