 Our Network Library & Council Service Assistants play a vital part in our library team by providing coverage to a range of libraries across West Auckland local boards. You will be working within a library whnau that has a team culture strong in te reo and tikanga Mori, a place where everyone can feel they belong.  No two days are the same, you will greet and assist customers with a variety of queries from assisting customers to accessing library & council services, supporting with the delivery of programmes and events, digital troubleshooting, Wi-Fi, and general computer queries.

The successful applicant will be based at our Otara Library.   To ensure our libraries are supported across all opening hours and days, we will need you to work Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m.

to 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:30 a.

m. to 1:30 p.m.

  Key Responsibilities:   Promote self-service options to enable customers to self-serve confidently on future occasions. Work confidently with new communities, supporting diverse community needs and growing cultural awareness. Diffuse high-tension situations appropriately and safely and escalate matters where necessary.

Respond to internal and external customers in a friendly and helpful manner. Keep up to date with current technology to support customers with access to resources in all formats and develop an understanding of the standards and tenets of professional librarianship. Support customers to navigate complex or persistent issues and provide exceptional customer service.

An outstanding communicator who can build and maintain relationships with a wide range of people.

A quick learner who would be able to assist people with technology queries. Enjoy working with Tamariki (children) and can assist with programmes. Enjoy the day-to-day frontline library service and the opportunity to connect directly with our library patrons.
