We are the government's principal adviser on transport policy, regulation and investment and play a crucial role in ensuring the transport system is working to improve the prosperity for New Zealanders. The Ministry's key responsibilities include providing policy advice to Government including the development of investment and regulatory settings, legislative advice and Crown agency governance, accountability and performance.
Ng whakamrama m te tnga | About the opportunity As the Manager Communications and Engagement, you will lead a team providing strategic and operational guidance and advice on all aspects of communications and engagement for the Ministry. This includes internal and external communications, ministerial co-ordination, stakeholder engagement support, media management and communications channels. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced leader, or a Communications specialist ready and motivated to make their own mark, to shape and develop a work programme and build a high performing team.
You'll know what good practice looks like and are able to engage with the rest of the Ministry to lead service improvement that meets the needs of the wider Ministry. You will bring strong people focused leadership to the team and be ready to grow and develop team members. Te whi ki a koe | What you'll bring A tertiary qualification preferably in Communications Experience of working in government, a sound understanding of the role of the public service and of working with Ministers and other government departments and agencies.
Experience in leading the design, implementation and management of communications and engagement strategies and plans A process improvement mindset demonstrated by previous success in improving function and performance Experience in stakeholder relations and building effective working partnerships with other organisations and the ability to manage a variety of internal and external relationships at various levels Experience being a successful coach and mentor to support and build individual development of team members Whnuitanga Utu -Tau | Salary range The salary budget is $169,590 ' $190,000 per annum.
