Maritime Readiness & Incident Response - leads and integrates excellent strategy, systems, planning and practices across all aspects of readiness and response functions. General maritime incident readiness and response is managed through our Response, Security and Safety Services (RSSS) Group but is delivered through a whole-of-organisation approach.
About the role The Manager Maritime Incident Strategy and Systems is a member of the Response Security and Safety Services leadership team, playing a key role in delivering a Readiness and Incident Response function across Maritime NZ. As the Manager, you'll be responsible for the effectiveness of the function, developing an integrated incident readiness and response strategy and work programme that is resourced, prioritised, and clear about interventions and roles and responsibilities. The key purpose of the role is to ensure Maritime NZ has an all hazards approach, with strategies, plans, systems and processes in place to support and deliver an integrated response for major and significant maritime events.
You will ensure that strategic plans are well understood and fit for purpose with others at Maritime NZ and with key external partners, and link into broader Government response strategies, priorities and plans. Ensuring effective engagement and collaboration on readiness and response with other partners will be paramount to the success of this role. About You: Ability to work in a culturally safe and respectful manner, always being mindful of the cultural diversity of the industry and having regard to Te Ao Mori and Treaty of Waitangi principles; Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience; Proven experience and knowledge of strategy, planning and all of government processes; Proven knowledge of, and experience in readiness (preparedness) and response work - preferably as part of New Zealand's National Security and ODESC systems ; Relevant CIMS or comparable incident management qualifications; Experience of the maritime industry and wider sector would be beneficial; Demonstrated people leadership skills with an empathetic approach and a passion for developing others; and Proven track record of leading and building highly engaged teams with a safe, trusting and enabling culture, managing performance and supporting people to succeed.
