We do this through three proven programmes: Family Service Centres, HIPPY and MATES.
We have a well-developed research and evaluation programme which provides evidence to support our work. We are looking for a part-time Coordinator (19 hours per week) for our Mentoring and Tutoring Education Scheme (MATES) programme to support our Auckland based Senior (yr 13) and Junior (yr 8) programmes in 13 schools across Auckland. This is a structured programme with University mentors employed during the academic year to provide both mentoring and tutoring in designated schools.
The role will be based at The University of Auckland City Campus and reports to the MATES Programme Manager. The overall objective of MATES is to raise levels of achievement and aspiration, so that those with potential to succeed at secondary and tertiary education can do so. The MATES Coordinator will be required to work across both MATES Senior and Junior programmes.
Key Responsibilities include: Work alongside the MATES Programme Manager to ensure that MATES is tracking well in relation to MATES sessions at schools (mentee-mentor relationships). Advertise, attract, interview and recruit mentors where necessary to ensure mentees are appropriately and adequately matched with a mentor, with approval from the MATES Programme Manager. Support the Business Development Manager as needed to curate a MATES social media presence for branding visibility, recruitment efforts and alumni networking.
Maintaining existing relationships with schools and funders and developing new relationships to support the programme. Responsible for MATES events, including development and delivery subject to approval from MATES Programme Manager. Provide additional support to wider MATES programme including project and event support and delivery of trainings.
Representing the programme and the Foundation to stakeholders. Valuing, understanding and utilising research and evidence-based practice. The ideal candidate will have: Experience in Youth Work or Youth Development and/or Mentoring programmes.
Confident public speaker and experience in facilitating trainings or events. Experience in and a passion for the Not-For-Profit sector. High level ICT skills especially with Microsoft Office Suite and databases.
Excellent written and spoken English with the confidence to approach people in writing, by phone or in person. Ability to attend to details whilst also considering the bigger picture. Good time management and organisational skills, including completing tasks on time and to a high standard.
