Nurse Educator Dermoscopy | Auckland An exciting brand new role to raise awareness and provide educational services for an amazing not-for-profit JOB DESCRIPTION MELANOMA NURSE EDUCATOR: The Melanoma Nurse Educator is responsible for offering support and guidance to melanoma patients and their families, raising awareness about melanoma (particularly prevention and early detection), providing information, helping people navigate through the melanoma pathway, and providing spot checks. As well as responding to individual enquiries and offering support and guidance, this role proactively seeks opportunities to engage with a wide range of communities across New Zealand, using Mobile Spot Check Van or Spot Check Pod as a base to provide information about melanoma and spot checks. Organisational practices should be in keeping with the concepts and principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and take into consideration the needs of all ethnicities.

Key responsibilities include, but are not restricted to: REQUESTS FOR INFORMATION OR SUPPORT NEW PATIENT SUPPORT INITIATIVES SPOT CHECK EVENT ACTIVATIONS EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES AND PRESENTATIONS Which will involve but not limited to: Responding to requests for information or support, including providing 1:1 consultations for melanoma patients or the general public Working with Melanoma New Zealands CEO, Counsellor and/or Nurse Educators to provide input into Melanoma New Zealands new (2024) patient support initiatives including, but not limited to, patient support groups, patient advisory group, and peer-to-peer support matching Working with Melanoma New Zealands other Nurse Educators and Event Coordinator to resource, as needed, events across New Zealand to promote melanoma awareness (including providing spot checks as a way of raising awareness about the importance of regular skin checks and patient follow-up, as required) Updating and developing educational resources and presentations Coordinating and presenting education and awareness events and forums as required Liaison with other health agencies and support services Working closely with the Counsellor, provide input into the establishment and the ongoing running of Melanoma NZs patient and family support groups. Attend online (or in person as required) patient support groups and offer a clinical perspective into these groups as required.

Establish, and implement, a peer-to-peer support matching service Ensure Melanoma New Zealand complies with the Health Information Privacy Code. Seek out nationwide events (eg health hauora, expos, sporting fixtures, Melanoma NZ sponsor activations) and locations (eg beaches, rural settings, high foot traffic retail areas) to set up and run melanoma awareness activity from the van or pod.
