Location: Wellington CBD or Auckland City M te tnga | About the role The purpose of Te Tari Preke, Firearms Safety Authority business unit is to enable New Zealand to be a world leader in arms safety through an effective regulatory and administrative approach to the Arms Act and Arms Regulations. Established to lead, operate, and develop investment in modernisation of the firearms system, which will result in a more efficient and effective risk-based licensing system, and shall improve public confidence in the firearms licensing system.
The modernisation of the Arms Regulatory System will take every opportunity to prevent harm through transparent, high quality, consistent, legislatively correct, and effective regulatory activities. This will also cover world leading administration, education, and promotion of compliance within the provisions of the Arms Act and Arms Regulations. To support the delivery of these outcomes you will provide analysis, advice and develop business intelligence capability.
Specifically, contributing to the development and monitoring of organisational performance for Te Tari Pureke by creating, analysing, and reporting quantitative information relating to district, service centre and national performance. You will be able to think critically about the data, adding value by appropriately conveying context and related factors to provide decision makers with insight and foresight. You will contribute to the development, monitoring and maintenance of data-sets used for both internal and externally released information.
You will also undertake analysis and reporting of information by the extraction and interpretation of data from various sources, applying rules that give meaning to data and mitigate limitations in source data, and testing resultant data-sets and measures to ensure quality. You will work collaboratively and seamlessly with others in multi-disciplinary teams and specific project teams across the group to deliver integrated, high quality and innovative work.
