As our city grows and changes rapidly, we have an ambitious programme of investment in new spaces and places and the re-imagining and re-purposing of existing ones.

The city's open spaces provide the opportunity to interaction with nature in areas such as parks, walking/cycle paths, playgrounds, gardens, and Sub regional parks like TECT All Terrain.

Our Environment team has an exciting opportunity for full-time Principal Natural Environment Advisor to join our Spaces & Places Activity. The main focus of the role is to lead a team of three Natural Environment Advisors who are the technical specialists in coastal restoration, ecology, biodiversity, biosecurity and all other natural environment issues for the City. Lead and be the subject matter expert on key restoration projects (including addressing encroachments) across the aquatic and terrestrial reserve networks.

Manage external contractors to ensure high quality technical and professional advisory services in the management of the City's network of walkways and cycleways, revegetation areas, Special Ecological Areas, and the city's taonga, Mauao, Te Ranga, Pukihinahina, Kopurererua Valley, Mclaren and Omanawa Falls and Huhurua reserve. Ng Pukenga | What you'll need to succeed To succeed in this role, you'll bring; A tertiary qualification in environmental Science or Ecology. 8 years experience in Environmental Management.

Contract Management experience. Ability to build and maintain strong relationships. A high standard of oral and written communication skills.

Willingness to use initiative and adapt to the way our customers want to work with us. Experience in asset management planning and knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Local Government Act (LGA), Reserves Act and the Resource.
