The Procurement team at the Christchurch City Council operates as an integral part of Resource Services acting as a shared service provider and enabler to the Council's business units. Conducting procurement in a 'centre-led' manner, the Procurement and Contracts Unit champions the quality of execution of the end to end procurement process - from identifying business need, through to supplier and contract management. The department consists of a large team that provides safeguarding, servicing and shaping procurement activities across a wide range of Council requirements.
There is an opportunity for the role of Procurement Support Officer within the Procurement team. This is an ideal position for someone at the start of their procurement journey. This is a multifaceted position where no two days are the same and thinking and acting quickly is required.
Your role will see you dealing with a variety of stakeholders, so managing and fostering relationships is imperative. This is a role where you'll be heavily involved in supporting the Head of Procurement and the procurement management team to provide the best outcome for the citizens of Christchurch. You'll be contributing towards the compliance of the Council Procurement Framework, maintaining our supplier, contracts and purchasing master data, and developing and maintaining healthy, collaborative and effective relationships with Council's business units.
Being highly organised and taking the lead with a proactive approach will see you gain immeasurable experience with some highly skilled procurement professionals. Our main goal is to create a seamless end to end procurement process, so you'll have the ability to see the finer detail and will be proactive and initiate change where needed. We are a team that runs at full steam and at times we work in a pressure cooker environment so having a cool, calm and collected nature will work well when we are under the pump.
Ideally you will have strong administrative experience in the public or regulated sector.
