M te tranga - About the role As a Recreation Officer / Diversiomal Therapy assistant, you will be responsible for planning and facilitating individual residents recreation plan and recreation programme for the residents of the Dementia Court. This involves running daily activities with staff and volunteers, planning the social calendar for the home and supporting our residents to pursue their interests. You will also encourage residents to maintain their independence, learn new skills and maintain connections with their community.
This is an ideal opportunity for you to give back to your community and spend time with our residents who have done exactly that in their lifetime The role is based in Masterton and will be working in our Dementia Court on days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays (six hours per day), perfect for those wanting to balance work life. M koe - About You As well as a passion for the wellbeing of older people, you will be enthusiastic but patient and well organised with great interpersonal skills and sense of humour.
You will share our values of empathy, compassion, and respect. In addition, you will have: A genuine interest in supporting the Recreational activities in our Home Minimum of Careerforce Level 2 Health and Wellbeing Certificate or preparedness to gain one Experience in a customer-facing role, ability to listen to people and work with them to support their needs Experience in administration with some computer literacy Full, clean New Zealand drivers license Is preferable some experience with people experiencing memory loss, experience in Recreational activities with the elderly and/or Diversional Theraphy or willing to inmediately start training.
