Permanent, Full-time or Part-time 72 - 80 hours per fortnight to be negotiated Do you have a strong sense of social justice and want to make a difference in people's lives? Be an integral part of an innovative service for the Hawkes Bay Te Ara Manapou Pregnancy and Parenting Support (PPS) works with pregnant woman and whnau of children under three years of age who have alcohol and drug issues and are poorly connected to health and social services. The successful applicant will join a small supportive and experienced team who sit alongside and are supported by the Maternal Mental health team. Te Ara Manapou has a multi-disciplinary team working with a range of specialist services such as Mental Health, Lead Maternity Carers, Oranga Tamariki and Non-Government Organisations.
We work from a client focused perspective to support whnau to reach their potential and in turn improve outcomes for children. As one of our Registered Practitioners you will be an experienced practitioner and may have trained in AOD, nursing, social work, counselling, psychology, occupational therapy or related fields. You will be seeking an opportunity to work in a cohesive well supported team and develop your AOD expertise specific to pregnant women, fathers, their children and their whnau.
A sense of social justice and enjoying working with a vulnerable, challenging and complex client group is essential. Excellent engagement and communication skills, a non-judgmental attitude and an ability to work autonomously within a team are vital. Te Ara Manapou offers the opportunity to work with a small caseload of clients in an intensive strength based approach.
Knowledge and passion of working with complex families is a must as is a resilience in your professional practice. This position is Monday to Friday between 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.
