Job Description Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity We are looking for a Research Farm Technician to join our team at Reporoa. In this role, you will provide technical support to staff and students at the Ngapouri animal research facility. You will assist with experimental and surgical procedures, including database management, sample collection, data recording and anaesthesiology.
You will also assist with all aspects of animal management, including breeding, housing, feeding and health monitoring. Other responsibilities of the role are: Maintain high levels of hygiene and compliance in all areas of responsibility. Ensure the welfare of animals at all timelines in line with the Animal Welfare Act 1999 and the I.
A.E.C code of ethical conduct.
Assist manager in planning and implementing animal breeding programmes. Maintain accurate occupancy and experimental procedures records to enable monthly charging to projects. Ensure all consumables and materials are purchased and stocked appropriately to meet planned activities and undertake inventory functions and any due diligence (financial and regulatory) as required.
Provide induction training for all facility users and contractors to ensure established H&S and operational protocols are communicated and understood. This is a full-time, 37.5 hours per week role on a 24-month contract.
The salary range for this role is $58,300 - $72,700 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications. He krero mu | About you Our suitable candidate will meet the requirements below: Degree majoring in Vertebrate Biology e.
g. Biomed Sci, Zoology, Physiology, AgSci, BVet (tech) or Veterinary Nursing certificate/diploma or; Laboratory Animal Technician certificate/diploma. 1-2 years experience in Animal care and monitoring.
Planning, timetabling and coordination. Record keeping and database management. Husbandry and care of large domestic livestock.
