Krero m te tranga - About the role Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting for a full-time, permanent Research Funding Adviser (RFA) in the newly-formed Research Funding and Strategy Team.
RFAs work closely with academics to win research funding from external contestable sources, including the Royal Society Te Aprangi; the Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment; the Health Research Council and more. The ability to develop high trust relationships with a wide variety of researchers, funders, and stakeholders is key to achieving success in this role. RFAs coordinate all aspects of the funding application process, including identifying opportunities; conducting seminars and workshops; reviewing proposals; preparing budgets; and managing the submission process.
Funder deadlines can be closely spaced and this, combined with high volumes of applications and complexity of budget processes, means time management and the ability to prioritise work is essential. Key responsibilities: Support the University's researchers to prepare and submit high quality research proposals for external and internal funds Assisting academics in preparing budgets and re-budgets Build strong and productive relationships with researchers and university management Explore collaborative opportunities with other providers, partners, and research users Work collaboratively with other RFA's to ensure that opportunities for obtaining external research funding are exploited across all disciplines Work alongside our Kairahi Rangahau Mori to ensure researchers give effect to Vision Mtauranga Work with other parts of the Research Office and faculties to develop strategic responses to funding opportunities pmanawa - About you We are looking for people with strong relationship building and communication skills, who can work co-operatively and maintain calm under pressure.
