M tnei tranga mahi | About this role Senior Advisor, Governance Risk and System Governance Group Fixed Term or Secondment to December 2024 The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet's (DPMC) purpose is to advance an ambitious, resilient and well-governed New Zealand. DPMC has a unique role as the trusted advisor, leader and steward of our system of executive government. Within DPMC, the Risk and System Governance Group (RSGG) provides leadership to DPMC's risk and system governance accountabilities.
As a Group, they: drive the National Risk Approach to support evidence-based, future-focused strategic government decision-making that strengthens New Zealand's long-term resilience to our most significant hazards and threats. provide strategic governance support to the collectives of Chief Executives that make up the National Security Board, and the Hazard Risk Board. provide stewardship and leadership to the country's all-of-government strategic crisis management arrangements, strengthening agencies' readiness capabilities and enabling coordinated and effective responses to nationally significant crisis events.
About this role | M tnei tranga mahi The Senior Advisor, Governance will play a pivotal role in providing governance support to the Director. Key to this role will be preparing advice for the boards and coordinate agencies and activities of two boards. This will include advice on board direction, second opinion/assurance advice to ensure governance bodies have system or sector-wide inputs, joined-up investment advice and advice on system capability, informed by strategic foresight.
A full job description is attached. About you | Ko wai koe The successful candidate will have demonstrated capabilities in the following areas: Experience in the Hazards Risk sector or the National Security system or the Emergency Management system. Experience in policy or secondary policy roles.
Experience working with a range of senior officials. Knowledge of the Machinery of Government Ability to identify, manage and minimise risks, and leverage opportunities. Understanding/experience of a variety of project planning and management techniques.
Ability to engage respectfully with te ao Mori and with other cultural frameworks Familiarity with the protocols and processes required when working with highly classified material. Security Requirements | Ng Whakaritenga Haumarutanga Normally you must be a New Zealand citizen or hold a Resident class visa. Alternatively, you must have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia with a 10 year checkable background.
