We have an opportunity for a Senior Corporate Lawyer to join the team to provide legal support & advice on all non-dispute customer related matters. Our lawyers focus on delivering valuable and pragmatic commercial and legal outcomes for BNZ and our customers. M te Tranga | About the Role We spoke with the Head of Legal - Business, Corporate & Institutional Banking (who you'd report to), and she gave us some great insight on what to expect with this tranga (role): What are 5 day to day tasks the person in this role will complete? Ownership of a portfolio, including prioritisation and delivery of workflow in line with BNZ strategy, with a primary focus on transactional banking and financial services Developing and implementing policies, procedures and tools to simplify our business and enable us to deliver better customer outcomes Proactively leading relationships Engaging with colleagues and other stakeholders Arranging and delivering training and presentations What is your management style? I encourage a collaborative team who supports each other.
I like to provide team members with autonomy, but am available for support and guidance as needed. What attributes will this person display in order to be successful in this role? Significant New Zealand legal experience in a wide range of banking and finance matters, including in particular, financial services 6 years' post qualification legal experience, including experience in banking & financial services or corporate/commercial at a top tier law firm and/or financial institution Ability to work independently (and remotely) without supervision Ability to supervise other lawyers and/or contribute to leadership of a legal team Ability to influence, and to proactively lead relationships, at multiple levels and/or in multiple areas Excellent technical legal and communication skills.
