Job Description Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity We are seeking a Senior Lecturer or above in Pacific Studies, to undertake teaching in the broadly conceived area of contemporary Pacific Studies. The successful candidate will have a strong research profile in Pacific Studies or closely related discipline and leadership experience commensurate with taking on the role of co-Head of The School of Mori Studies and Pacific Studies, Te Wnanga o Waipapa. The research and teaching can cover issues of significance to Pacific peoples, including: media and/or popular culture; diaspora, transnationalism, and contemporary identities; gender and sexuality; digital media, innovative technologies, and/or Pacific data; and Pacific politics.

The successful candidate will also undertake specialist research in their area of expertise and have the ability to develop and teach courses in the broadly conceived area of contemporary Pacific societies, at all levels. The successful candidate will also contribute to service and leadership as a member of the academic staff of Pacific Studies, the School/Te Wananga o Waipapa, and the Faculty/Te Kura Tangata, as well as relevant university-wide research centres, such as the Centre for Public Policy and the Pacific Research platform, Fofonga for Pacific Research. They will serve as a co-Head with line management responsibility for academic staff in Pacific Studies and as a member of the Faculty of Arts leadership team as well as relevant university-wide research initiatives noted above.

This is a fulltime (40 hours per week), permanent position. The remuneration is SL1 $120,752 SL8 $151,251, AP from $157,822 per annum. For more detailed information, please refer to the Position Description.
