The Opportunity It is an exciting time for the Policy and Planning team at ORC with multiple roles to fill, and a challenging work programme. This is your opportunity to make a difference and help us shape the future of the Otago region The ORC Policy and Planning team is on the lookout for four Policy Analysts and Senior Policy Analysts to join us in a permanent capacity.
Although we would prefer full-time employment, part-time arrangements would be considered for candidates with the right skills and experience. The roles can be based anywhere in Otago - the main office is in Dunedin, but we also have offices in Queenstown and Alexandra. Depending on your skills and experience, you will be working on: Finalising the Proposed Otago Regional Policy Statement, including implementing national direction on highly productive land; Reviewing and updating Otago's Air Plan or Coast Plan; or Delivering the Land and Water Regional Plan, which will update how Otago's fresh water and land is managed.
Senior Policy Analyst We are looking for people with a sound policy background, able to deliver under pressure while being part of a fun and talented team. As a Senior Policy Analyst, you will be leading projects and project teams across the Council and building enduring relationships within and outside the Council at all levels. Our ideal candidate will have: A tertiary qualification or equivalent level of relevant work experience in environmental management / resource management or a similar field.
5 years' experience in a similar role, ideally within a regional council environment. Knowledge of the Resource Management Act 1991, and consent or plan development processes. An understanding of Otago's resource management issues, and how these can be addressed through the Resource Management Act.
Experience providing expert policy and planning evidence. An understanding of and respect for te ao Mori, te reo and tikaka. Ability to build internal and external relationships within a complex environment.
Proven experience leading projects. Policy Analyst We are looking for people who are detail orientated and enjoy working collaboratively as part of a of a fun and talented team. As a Policy Analyst, you will be assisting with the developm.
