This is an influential role working in our dynamic Climate and Environmental Planning team, you'll be leading the way and guiding All about the job Decisions on the Proposed District Plan and Intensification Planning Instrument have recently been notified. The team are now looking forward to working alongside our legal counsel on responding to any appeals and preparing plan changes as necessary.
With the changes happening at Regional and Central Government level, the team are heavily involved in these processes. The District Plan aims to weave the requirements of the RMA with the Council's strategic directions which are: Investing in 3 Waters infrastructure and catchment restoration Proactively responding to the climate crisis Advocating for and providing a safe, healthy and thriving community Putting children and young people at the heart of the city The vacancy is at a senior level, but we will happily consider applications from capable and driven planners at an intermediate level. You will work in a small and experienced team of senior and principal planners who can offer mentoring to fast track your career in district planning.
You will primarily be responsible for: working in partnership with Ngti Toa on district planning assisting and/or overseeing major new plan changes, including leading engagement supporting and advising on regional processes, including those coming out of Greater Wellington Regional Council and the Wellington Regional Leadership Committee providing analysis and advice on central and regional government policy changes and how to respond supporting the Council's climate change response including implementation through the District Plan.
