M te tnga - About the role This is an exciting position for those who pride themselves on providing high quality and timely information, advice and practical support to the Labour Party Leader and members of the Labour Party Caucus in relation to the media T kete - What you will bring to the role You will deliver advice, provide leadership in media and strive to ensure the Labour Party Leader and the Labour Caucus are well prepared for media interviews by providing press releases, media messages, columns, social media and speeches. Identifying media opportunities and risks are key skills you will bring to the role. Your ability to build and maintain professional relationships, both internally and externally will be highly valued.
As a senior press secretary, you will relish coaching and supporting Leader's Office and member Support staff involved in the above work, to build capability and drive a cohesive team across the Parliamentary Labour Party Team. There are several different backgrounds that will add to your success in this position. You will have core technical skills which include a deep practical understanding and appreciation of the importance media plays in making informed decisions, ability to analyse and collate complex data sets and form these into easy-to-understand sound bites and be a world class problem solver.
You'll need to bring the ability to prioitise workloads and deliver on (sometimes) conflicting deadlines. Above all else, your strong interpersonal skills will shine through in any setting.
