M tnei tranga mahi | About this role SFO - Principal Strategy Advisor Wellington The Serious Fraud Office (SFO) is a highly specialised government department whose mission it is to disrupt and deter serious complex fraud through prevention, investigation, and prosecution. We take pride in the work we do to keep New Zealand safe from fraud and corruption. We employ a clever team of lawyers, accountants, investigators, and electronic forensic, counter fraud, and policy experts to do just that and, importantly, we have a small support team that enables them to focus on their work.

Numbering eighty, we are a cohesive team with a strong sense of justice and a vibrant culture. The SFO seeks a highly accomplished Principal Strategy Advisor to join our team based in The Terrace, Wellington CBD. This is a full-time permanent employment status role.

In this role you will report to our Deputy Chief Executive Strategy and Engagement and lead a team of Policy Advisors and our Private Secretary, a team of three people. You will lead our annual work programmes for the development of strategic policy work products including advice, guidance, processes, communications, research, and presentations. This work includes the development of the SFO's strategic objectives and Statement of Intent.

You will represent the SFO on Justice sector strategy and policy related working groups and contribute to our international partner relationships. You will work closely with our Communications Lead and collaborate in the production of external communications and publications. With our Private Secretary, you will manage ministerial engagement, draft ministerial briefings and supporting material, and contribute to our response to Written Parliamentary Questions (RPQs).

To be successful in this role you will have significant accomplishments as a senior, Principal level, public sector strategist and policy advisor. You have comprehensive knowledge about the machinery of government and have worked extensively with ministerial offices and in across agency engagement. To have credibility with your team, you have ability to quickly understand facts and complexities, you can research, use data, perform detailed analysis, and deliver advice and recommendations in a succinct and effective manner, and produce engaging and robust reports and work products.
