The Opportunity Our Environmental Implementation team at the Otago Regional Council is looking for a Biosecurity Specialist - Marine and Freshwater to join the team on a permanent, full-time basis in our busy Dunedin office. The purpose of this role is to develop and manage effective programmes of work to provide technical advice and develop and deliver programmes and projects, to enable the Environmental Implementation Team to effectively implement freshwater and marine biosecurity management As a Biosecurity Specialist - Marine and Freshwater, you will be responsible for: Providing specialist biosecurity advice to the Environmental Implementation Team and wider ORC including external stakeholders Contributing to freshwater and marine biosecurity strategic and operational programme development Analysing freshwater and marine biosecurity data to guide and inform programme implementation Developing and delivering effective work programmes with respect to biosecurity management If you have a passion for delivering on positive environmental outcomes in a collaborative setting we want to hear from you About You Our ideal candidate will have: A Bachelors degree in Biosecurity, Ecology, Zoology, Biodiversity or Environmental Management A minimum of three (3) years' experience in a biosecurity, biodiversity, ecology or conservation related role Experience solving complex problems collaboratively Experience in developing and delivering large-scale strategic plans, programmes and projects for pest management What we offer We recognise and celebrate diversity within Team ORC and are committed to providing a work environment that supports inclusion and equal opportunities.
