Student Wellbeing Advisor Position Purpose: The Student Wellbeing Advisor is part of a university wide Student Care team building the capacity of other staff and students to support those students experiencing emotional distress, mental health issues or displaying concerning behaviour. In addition, the role collaborates broadly to promote and develop the overall wellbeing and resilience of the student body. The role understands student wellbeing within a shared university wide framework.
It assists in the provision of a responsive and effective pastoral care service that improves student success, retention, and experience for all students across the three campuses, as well as for distance students, including those studying offshore. Central to this role is the ability to employ a Te Tiriti-led approach to uplifting the health and wellbeing of students at the University, and to acknowledge the importance of the values of whanaungatanga and manaakitanga in advancing student success. This role works to the Health Care standards, including Health and Disability and requirements as outlined by Te Whatu Ora, contracts held with health partners.
Services also comply to the Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 202I, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Health, and Safety requirements, internal policy, and frameworks.
