Do you want to lead the delivery of new social services and education programmes? Do you understand the social & clinical issues affecting children, families/whanau? We are looking for an exceptional manager to provide leadership, support, guidance and coaching to Family Works staff in Whanganui to deliver high quality client-centric social services and counselling. About us Family Works is an established NGO providing counselling, mediation and other social services to tamariki, whnau and individuals affected by family violence, historical trauma and a broad range of other issues. Weve been doing what we do for over 100 years, which means weve got pretty good at identifying need and delivering services to our local communities and we are honoured and proud to serve them.
We have experienced and qualified counsellors and social workers to delivering our services. We are focused on offering a strong connection and affinity for Te ao Mori and to work appropriately with our diverse clients in a range of settings. If this sounds like you read on About the role This full-time role is responsible for overseeing a small team of social service professionals to make a meaningful and positive contribution to addressing social need and improving the wellbeing of children, families and whnau in the Whanganui district.
In the role you will: Successfully recruit, train, develop, manage, and motivate your team and build a positive and thriving workplace culture. Ensure contract and statutory requirements, and policy and best practice guidelines, are understood and complied with. Provide financial oversight of budgets, reporting and annual business planning; and implement remedial actions as required.
Carry a small caseload. Establish and maintain strong local connections and networks within the communities that Family Works Whanganui is based. We are looking for are for someone who: Holds a tertiary qualification in social work, counselling or a related field.
Has experience in an NGO social services environment. Has management experience. Has advanced competence in working with children, families and whnau where family violence is a concern.
You will also: Be passionate about supporting tamariki, families and whnau. Have a deep understanding of the complexity of issues your team will deal with. Have sound cultural competence to guide and support appropriate service delivery.
