Residential Youth Worker - Oranga Tamariki Te Kohanga Remand Home, Rotorua If you are passionate about making a difference in the lives of at-risk young people, join our supportive team who are fully committed to achieving positive outcomes for rangatahi, whanau and the community. What is Te Kohanga Remand Home? We operate a 24/7, 365 days-a-year home, working with rangatahi aged 14 to 17 who are on remand via Youth Court. Our ultimate goal is to help every young person we work with to realise their potential.
We help young people transition into education, training, or employment, and to a safe and stable living arrangement when they leave our care. Youth Workers can and do make a significant difference in the lives of at-risk youth. They provide day-to-day role-modelling, mentoring, support, and coordinated activities for the challenging youth under our care.
You will be working with our young people, so you must have previous experience working with youth as you will be delivering programmes and services as part of a daily programme or as part of an individual care plan. Experience in social services, including working with at-risk children or youth; and/or a relevant qualification in youth work, sport and recreation, education, health, or psychology is preferred but not essential. A full orientation and training programme is included. This is 7 to 7 shift work, day and night. You must: Meet the VCA safety checking and Ministry vetting requirements (police check etc.
