Krero m te Tranga | About the Role Environment Canterbury is looking for a full time Canterbury Water Management Strategy (CWMS) Facilitator to support water zone committees in South Canterbury and Greater Christchurch/Banks Peninsula.

These committees have been in existence for over a decade and continue to drive the implementation of the CWMS in the context of increasing focus on improving freshwater management from Government, Iwi, the Primary Sector, and the wider community. This position focuses on supporting Water Zone Committees develop and deliver coordinated action plans alongside Council, Rnanga, other agencies and interest groups. Days of work will be Monday to Friday, travel and evening work may be required.

Mu About You We are looking for someone who is familiar with Canterbury communities, and ideally has knowledge of working with groups to develop and achieve their goals. An understanding of resource management, particularly water management issues is an advantage. You'll need to be a self-starter, able to see opportunities, build bridges between opposing views and able to lead community engagement processes.

You'll be comfortable with complexity and ambiguity and not fazed by technical information or robust conversations. Ideally you'll bring: An Understanding of and commitment to honouring tikanga and Te Tiriti o Waitangi combined with experience of incorporating te ao Mori perspectives into community engagement and freshwater management. The skills to build and maintain collaborative relationships across diverse groups including iwi, stakeholders, and community groups.

The ability to influence others, facilitate strategic thinking and sustain an outcomes-focus. Experience overseeing the management of large numbers of project activities and working under pressure.
