Description The Role The Fixed-term Accountant (12 months) is a key role within the company, supporting the Finance team. This position is designed to help ensure our financial processes are managed efficiently. The role is across various accounting functions and requires previous accounting experience and strong attention to detail.
This is a Fixed-term parental leave cover position, with part-time hours negotiable for the right candidate. Key Tasks & Responsibilities: Finance Support Assist with month-end and year-end processes, including journals, accruals, and prepayments. Complete all balance sheet reconciliations by the 6th working day and follow up on discrepancies or outstanding items.
Support with GST and FBT reporting in coordination with external advisors. Maintain and update the capital work-in-progress (WIP) register and capitalise projects in a timely manner. Monitor capital expenditure against budget and prepare monthly reports.
Contribute to the ongoing improvement of financial processes for greater accuracy and efficiency. Provide general support and undertake other finance-related duties as required. Accounts Receivable Liaise with the sales team to ensure accurate and timely invoicing.
Record payments accurately and monitor overdue accounts. Prepare weekly aged receivables reports. Bank Reconciliation Perform daily bank reconciliations for NZD and USD accounts, ensuring transactions are accurately recorded in the general ledger.
Accounts Payable Oversee routine accounts payable processes to ensure timely and accurate completion. Maintain accurate and complete vendor records. Review and approve supplier payments.
Essential Experience and Competencies 2 years of experience working in an accounting role. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting software programs. Knowledge of audit requirements.
Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail. Extensive knowledge of accounting and management principles and finance procedures. Expected Experience and Competencies Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Good time management and organisational skills. Working knowledge of relevant legal regulations. Commitment to ethical behaviour with a willingness to adhere to all company policies and current financial legislation.
