M te tnga | About the role: We are seeking a Security Advisor to join our newly established function; Security, Information and Risk Advisory Services (SIRAS), as part of the wider Security Group for Parliamentary Service. You will provide expert security advice and operational support to ensure the safety of Members attending events outside the Parliamentary Precinct. Reporting directly to the SIRAS Manager, you will play a key role in delivering intelligence, threat assessments, and security guidance that safeguard Parliaments people and events.

This role is perfect for someone who is flexible and adaptable, with strong organisational skills. Your ability to remain composed and effective in dynamic environments will be key to your success in this role Assisting with the implementation of Parliamentary Security initiatives and operational plans. Provide expert security advice to Members of Parliament, including presence at public engagements and offsite visits.

Conduct thorough security assessments, surveys, and pre-deployment planning to ensure robust protective measures are in place. Liaise closely with internal teams, NZ Police, intelligence agencies, and external partners to coordinate security arrangements and respond to evolving threats. Collaborating with the Security Leadership Group and other teams to align operational activities with strategic security objectives.

Maintaining strong stakeholder relationships to ensure effective communication and resource support. Supporting continuous improvement efforts within the SIRAS team to enhance capability and service quality. This is an exciting role for a security expert who wants to play a part in the successful delivery of a new and evolving function for Parliamentary Service.

Due to the nature of this role, nationwide travel will be required to support organisational needs and therefore a valid drivers license is required for the role. The starting salary range for this role is $98,267 - $102,863 per annum. Appointments will be based on skills and experience (please note, the full salary range extends beyond this to allow for tenure progression).

Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and confidently across diverse audiences.

Strong analytical skills with experience in intelligence gathering and risk assessment. Good understanding of security legislation and the Protective Security Requirements (PSR). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach.
