Krero m te tranga - About the role Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting an Assistant Clinical Lead of Nursing to join our team at Mauri Ora Student Health and Counselling on a permanent, full-time basis. This is a clinical role, working with our awesome team of Nurses, General Practitioners and Support staff to contribute to the delivery of effective quality primary care to Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington students in a challenging and yet very rewarding environment. You will also work closely with Nurse Practitioners, the Health Improvement Practitioners, the Health Coach, Counselling and other Student Support teams.

Key responsibilities Assume Leadership of the Nursing team in conjunction with the Associate Director when the Clinical Lead of Nursing is away. Provide leadership in the clinical space on a day-to-day basis. Actively work with the Senior Leadership Team and attend weekly management meetings alongside, or for, the Clinical Lead of Nursing.

The allocation of duties will approximately be 0.8FTE normal Practice nurse duties and 0.2FTE Assistant Clinical Lead duties.

Staff coaching and mentoring (new nurses and student nurses). Assist with vaccine and cold chain management. Management of Flu Clinics Halls, Hub and Pipitea Campus.

Assist with HCH/ Cornerstone targets and objectives (ie Wellness Plans). Student Nurse Placements. Oversight of Clinical Recalls ie cervical screening.

Assist with updating and development of Policies and Procedures ie Cold Chain Accreditation. pmanawa - About you You will have a broad range of primary care nursing experience, and a special knowledge of youth health needs would be an advantage; a proven ability to lead and experience with change management along with a passion for influencing, forward thinking and negotiating to achieve the best possible health care outcomes for our students. Your strengths will include adaptability, flexibility, resilience, a focus on clinical excellence and ability to deliver innovative solutions along with good management, administrative and computer skills, be familiar with Cornerstone accreditation requirements along with a sense of humour.

You will also have excellent interpersonal/relationship building skills including excellent verbal and written communication. Key requirements: Current Registration in General Practice with the Nursing Council of New Zealand. Considerable experience in Practice Nursing, or similar experience relevant to the work of a student health service.

Proven experience in staff and team leadership and management including coaching, mentoring, staff development and organisational behaviour within.
