Associate Ecologist Leadership role across the delivery of ecological projects, technical development and with scope to develop others Make an impact across New Zealand applying your ecological expertise and consultancy experience, supporting and elevating biodiversity, environmental and related outcomes Work with technical experts who are leaders in their industries, as well as with a passionate team using the breadth of Becas technical knowledge to make everyday better Te whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity Ecologist leadership role within Becas progressive ecology team, where you will be providing technical, project and people leadership within the Ecology team focusing on freshwater and native fauna. You will be working with a team with a reputation for excellence in practice, a collaborative and team-oriented style who share a passion for the importance of ecological assessments. Our clients include central and local government, network utility providers, iwi and private organisations across New Zealand.

You will lead a variety of projects throughout the country including contributing to a diverse range of ecological assessments. This role will enable you to continue to develop your career both in your technical field and as a senior consultant as part of a multi-disciplinary organisation. Other key role components include: Lead ecological services on behalf of our clients, with support from the broader team Oversee and contribute to ecological field investigations including the handling of fauna (aquatic and/or terrestrial) when required Lead, write and review ecological technical assessments to support a range of projects including resource consent applications and grow your own experience in more complex projects Lead the preparation of proposals to clients Build great relationships with internal and external clients Uphold and promote the Beca key values of partnership, tenacity, enjoyment, and care Engage and collaborating with iwi to help conserve our native taonga species As part of the Environmental & Sustainability Advisory section, you will be part of a team of over 60 environmental scientists and sustainability advisors located throughout New Zealand, who are focused on shaping environmental and sustainability outcomes.

You will enjoy working with people from a range of backgrounds, including with clients to understand their needs. You will provide robust ecological advice, solutions, and technical assessments to improve environmental outcomes.

Ideally your background will include: Experience in a consultancy environment (preferable) Field experience that includes ecosystem and species survey, capture/relocation in a New Zealand ecology context Knowledge and experience in New Zealand freshwater, wetland and/or native fauna ecology An understanding of natural resource management and conservation.
