About the role Are you passionate about wildlife conservation and eager to make a meaningful career impact? Do you enjoy working with people to enhance conservation awareness? Palmerston North City Council is looking for a Central Energy Trust Wildbase Recovery Support Officer to join our team. As a Support Officer, you will be instrumental in providing general support and assistance to the CET Wildbase Recovery Division, helping us meet our goals and objectives. This is a part-time role, 30 hours per week, Sunday to Wednesday.

Your responsibilities will include: Delivering an exceptional visitor experience at the centre, constantly seeking ways to enhance how visitors engage with us. Assisting the facility manager in coordinating volunteers, ensuring they are well-supported and able to contribute effectively. Supporting volunteers in visitor hosting to create a fun, safe, and interactive environment for guests.

Developing and creating engaging content for various communication platforms. Delivering education programmes in the absence of the Central Energy Trust Wildbase Recovery Education and Programmes Officer. Assisting the CET Wildbase Recovery Technicians with limited animal husbandry duties for both CET Wildbase Recovery and the Victoria Esplanade Aviaries.

About You We seek a detail-oriented, adaptable, and resourceful professional with a strong sense of dedication. To excel in this role, you should have: Experience working in visitor or customer-focused facilities/organizations. A background in education or conservation is preferred but not essential.

Experience with native or exotic animal husbandry is beneficial. Proficiency in Tikanga Mori and Te Reo, or a willingness to learn. The ability to connect and build rapport with people of all ages and backgrounds.

Our future looks bright, it looks vibrant and progressive. What we offer: Competitive remuneration between $54,326 and $63,274 (pro-rated for 30 hours), with a 3% KiwiSaver employer contribution (where eligible) 5 weeks annual leave and a com.
