Community Support Worker - Residential Casual Position $23.50 - $29.10 Wellington City location At Spectrum Care, we provide support for adults with intellectual and/or physical disabilities to live great lives.

Our Supported Independent Living (SIL) programme supports people to live more independently, including in a rental property or their own home. We ensure they: Receive the support they need and prefer; Ensure family and personal connections are maintained and enhanced; Actively participate and have valued roles in the community; Develop independence while also combatting isolation; Ensure personal goals come to fruition and support along the way; We work alongside individuals, and their family and friends, NASC agencies, staff and others to help them to overcome barriers to enhancing their life quality. We encourage each individual to include their support network in the planning process.

Empowerment of the individual to make their own decisions is key, as is ensuring that they are at the heart of the implementation process and feel a sense of ownership and pride in the decisions that are made. Skills & Experience Empathy for the challenges of trying to build an ordinary life while living with a disability Energy to keep up with someone who likes to be on the go a lot Ability to remain calm, and calming, in all situations Resilience to help people keep boundaries to ensure their safety Good at explaining and negotiating Ability to communicate effectively and supportively with family, colleagues and the person you support Ability and willingness to provide support and motivation with personal cares and daily living skills The ideal candidate will have: An interest in attaining a Community Support Worker Level Three or above qualification- we can support you to achieve this while you work Experience supporting people with disabilities, and or mental health issues, and/or behaviours that can be challenging is desirable but not necessary Reliability, commitment, and passion for working with people A full New Zealand driver's licence Able to pass a NZ police check The ability to use a computer effectively, including programs such as Word, Internet Explorer, and email Apply now if you have a passion for working with people and want to make a difference!
