About the opportunity Were looking for a highly capable Contracts Manager to lead the contractual, operational, financial, and compliance management of waste management contracts across the Southland region. This role is pivotal in optimising the waste value chain, managing contractor performance, ensuring compliance with legislation, and identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation.

Youll have the opportunity to take a hands-on approach by providing additional support to the Invercargill City Council with elements of their solid waste management activities, including operational delivery, asset management and planning and contractual delivery of contracted waste related services. Reporting to the Invercargill City Council Manager of Infrastructure Operations and working closely with internal and external stakeholders, you will: Oversee contract compliance and performance monitoring and management. Lead data-driven reporting and financial analysis to inform decision-making.

Support strategic planning and project delivery through expert contract oversight. Foster strong relationships with contractors, community partners and WasteNet Council team members Embed continuous improvement, risk mitigation, and quality assurance into all contract-related processes. This is a hands on role with real strategic impactbalancing technical know-how, financial insight, and stakeholder engagement to ensure efficient and effective waste management services.

About you Youre a commercially and contractually savvy professional with a background in contract management, preferably within infrastructure, utilities, or environmental services. You will bring strong knowledge in contract management frameworks with a strong understanding of how to effectively communicate to a diverse stakeholder group. Your natural ability to broker trusting relationships, will not only ensure compliance with contractual obligations but also allow you to negotiate and work through contract variations to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
