Emirates Team New Zealand is on the lookout for an experienced Control Systems Engineer to join our fast-paced team. As a leader in the marine industry and the holder of the America's Cup, we pride ourselves on leveraging cutting-edge technologies to gain a competitive edge. In this exciting position, the successful candidate will engage in various tasks, including the creation of autopilots for both for both our racing yachts and commercial powered foiling craft.
In response to the aims of minimising fossil fuel consumption and enhancing sustainability, there is a growing demand for foiling boats across the maritime industry. In additional to the physical design of these components, excellent control systems are a requirement to fully leverage this technology. Fast boats flying above the water of the water also require a strong focus on safety.
Properly identifying and responding to sensor or controller errors is crucial, particularly when working on commercial projects. Responsibilities Develop code to fuse sensor data and generate valuable outputs. Develop algorithms for stable flight.
Write code to automatically analyse data from various sources for anomalies and have the control system respond accordingly. Perform extensive simulator tests of what-if scenarios to prove the robustness of the control system. Document processes and methodologies, ensuring knowledge transfer within the team.
