Greetings to the many authorities, voices, and experts of the world. This is an opportunity to take up a Curator role within the Alexander Turnbull Library, with the portfolio of Cartoons, Comics, Illustrated Books and Childrens Literature.

As a Curator, youll be responsible for the strategic development of your portfolio, and work in collaboration with others across the Library to acquire material across formats including books, manuscripts, visual media and digital works. Youll also be responsible for deepening public and research engagement through promotion, interpretation and scholarly outreach. Youll work closely with fellow Curators and library teams to ensure the collections are relevant, accessible, and reflective of the diverse voices and taonga of Aotearoa.

What were looking for Were seeking a passionate, experienced professional who brings: In-depth knowledge and demonstrated expertise in their portfolio areas Experience in research, acquisition and collection development across diverse formats Strong connections to the research and cultural communities relevant to your portfolio Experience working with donors, researchers, institutions and community partners in a cultural heritage context The ability to assess provenance, ethical considerations and legal aspects of acquisitions Familiarity with descriptive practices, digitisation priorities and preservation principles A deep understanding of and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Capability in te ao Mori, te reo and tikanga is advantageous Exceptional communication skills and the ability to share knowledge through writing, public speaking, and curatorial outreach A post-graduate qualification in a relevant subject area or equivalent professional experience is required. About us As part of the Department of Internal Affairs, we are the kaitiaki of Aotearoas documentary heritage.
