Job Description Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity We have an exciting opportunity for a Centre Cook/Chef to join our team at Te Ako o Te Tui Early Childhood Centre. The centre cook plays a vital part in what we do. We place huge importance in offering our children local, fresh and tasty food options providing a healthy and balanced diet that fuels their learning, growth and development.

We have a Gold Healthy Heart Award. We value someone who is passionate about providing quality, healthy food options, has great communication skills and can work efficiently & independently. You will work with our menu, as well as our Centres policies, Food Safety regulations and health and safety protocols.

Key tasks include, but are not limited to: Preparing and serving of meals, including: morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea Menu planning and working alongside our partner Learn by Heart, ensuring were adhering to a healthy and balanced diet for our Tamariki Allergy management and catering for children with food allergies and intolerances (a good understanding of this is imperative) Budget management: purchasing appropriate ingredients and ensuring sufficient stocks are on hand. Placing food orders online (must be a confident computer user) Ensuring health & safety standards and regulations are met and maintained at a high level at all times Maintaining a high level of cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen. Managing time and recourses in the kitchen efficiently.

This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week), permanent position. Remuneration is $50,700 - $61,700 per annum, depending on skills and experience.

This role is Monday to Friday, with working hours approximately 9:00am to 4:00pm, including a 30-minute lunch break. You'll have evenings and weekends free!
