Te kwhiringa | The Opportunity Are you a seasoned estimating professional with a passion for infrastructure, leadership, and delivering commercial success? Downer New Zealand is looking for an experienced Estimating Lead North to lead our regional estimating team and drive tender excellence across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects. N:B this role can be based in Auckland, New Plymouth, Northland or Hamilton.

As the Estimating Lead North, you will: Lead and develop a high-performing regional estimating team. Deliver accurate, timely, and commercially sound tenders across maintenance, construction, and capital works. Drive continuous improvement in estimating tools, pricing accuracy, and productivity benchmarking.

Collaborate closely with operational, commercial, and opportunity teams to build winning strategies. Contribute to the successful handover and delivery of projects through risk assessment and thorough documentation. Key Responsibilities: Manage and mentor a team of estimators across the North Region.

Lead the development and submission of competitive, high-quality tenders. Analyse completed projects to improve future estimating practices. Promote robust business processes and compliance with company procedures.

Champion a safe, inclusive, and high-performing team culture. Liaise with key stakeholders including operations, commercial teams, suppliers, and clients. Nga pkenga matua | Important Skills 5 years of experience in infrastructure estimating (maintenance & construction).

Tertiary qualification in quantity surveying, engineering, or a related field (preferred). Proven ability to interpret contract documents and compile detailed tender submissions. Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring abilities.

High level of computer literacy and understanding of estimating tools and databases. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively under tight deadlines.
