New Zealand needs to build a skilled workforce and ATNZ are currently looking for mechanically minded individuals who want to start a career in Fabrication. We are recruiting for either a Heavy Fabrication, Light Fabrication or Steel Construction apprentice for our host company located in Mount Maunganui, Tauranga .
They have the facilities to provide for any of these three strands so it will really be up to the you, the learner, and what you're wanting to pursue. If successful you will be employed by ATNZ and assigned to this host company where you will receive valuable on the job training while studying to become a fully qualified engineer. What does a Heavy Fabrication Apprentice do? Working with metals, fabricators make everything from steel parts to structures that are used anywhere.
Heavy Fabricators work with heavier gauge plates, sections, and pipes, to produce a wide variety of products including trailers, earthmoving machinery, manufacturing equipment and more. What Does a Light Fabrication Apprentice do? Light fabrication engineers work with lightweight metals such as stainless steel and aluminum. Light fabricators typically make things such as handrails, balustrades and bench tops and play a key role in manufacturing boats and many ancillary components used within the marine industry.
What does a Steel Construction Apprentice do? Steel construction engineers generally work with steel at least 4mm thick. Much of the work undertaken by steel construction engineers is structural steel for the construction industry but also includes making and repairing things as varied as boilers, significant structures, tanks and components for heavy machinery. Do you fit the profile? Are you committed to 3-4 years of study whilst working full time? Are you interested in fabrication or working with metals? Do you have a restricted or full drivers licence?
