Description About the role We are seeking a Financial Controller to lead and develop our core finance operations and ensure financial integrity across the business. This strategic and hands-on leadership role is essential in supporting informed decision-making through accurate and timely reporting, optimised processes, and robust internal controls. You will be responsible for the day-to-day financial control function, driving continuous improvement and ensuring best practice across reporting, systems, compliance, and financial operations.

Your strong commercial mindset, technical expertise, and ability to streamline and document processes will ensure the finance function supports broader business performance. Key responsibilities of this role include Lead the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements in compliance with applicable standards (e.g.

, IFRS). Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting across all Synlait business units, with clear tracking and reconciliation processes in place. Drive continuous process improvement, standardisation, and documentation of core finance processes, ensuring consistency, compliance, and efficiency.

Lead finance automation initiatives that reduce manual effort and improve data accuracy, using KPIs and tracking metrics to measure success. Design, implement, and monitor robust internal control systems to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations. Oversee inventory accounting and valuation, ensuring financial systems align with physical inventory and supporting accurate forecasting and reporting.

Lead all audit-related activities and act as the key liaison with external auditors for interim and year-end audits. Ensure accurate and timely tax compliance across GST, PAYE, and income tax, supported by strong recordkeeping and collaboration with tax advisors. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to map, track, and optimise end-to-end financial workflows across the business.

Skills and Experience The ideal candidate for this role will be a detail-oriented finance leader with deep experience in financial control, reporting, and compliance, and a strong focus on improving how things are done. This role will also require A University degree in Commerce and a CA/CPA qualification (or equivalent). 7 years of experience in finance, internal control, or audit within complex or multinational environments.

Proven experience in process management, continuous improvement, and the implementation of automated financial workflows. Demonstrated ability to develop and track process metrics, KPIs, and risk controls. Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, risk mitigation strategies, and audit best practices.

Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and financial reporting tools.

Effective leadership skills, with a track record of building capable, efficient, and engaged finance teams. Abi.
